Talisker 1986 21 Year Old Secret Stills No. 1.2

A 21-year-old Talisker distilled in April 1986 and bottled in May 2007 by Gordon & MacPhail for the Secret Stills series. Matured in first-fill sherry butts numbered 1361 to 1363, the release comprised 1,860 bottles at 45% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Maritime and sherried, with kelp, seashell, iodine, wood and peat smoke, plus Seville orange, lapsang souchong, white chocolate, resin, camphor, smoked meats and wild mushroom.

Palate: Rich, candied and smoky, with smoked toffee, bitter orange and white pepper; later more resinous and dry, with sherry, mint, liquorice and tar.

Finish: Long and weighty, with pepper, liquorice and cough-sweet notes.
