The first Macallan Gran Reserva release, distilled in 1979 and bottled in 1997 after 18 years of maturation. Selected from first-fill Spanish oak sherry butts, it was bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl format.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Mulled wine, clove, juniper, spearmint and coffee toffee, developing into dark chocolate, soy, balsamic notes, barbecue meat, cigar box and ripe blackberry.
Palate: Thick and oily, with rum-soaked raisins, figs, rancio, orange and herbal liqueur, clove and pepper.
Finish: Long, rich and coating, with a faint saltiness and blackberry jelly in the aftertaste.

Very good vintage condition. Bottle label and capsule appear clean and intact; wooden presentation box shows light scuffing and surface marks consistent with storage.
